Best Independant Coffee/Tea Shops ☕️
Despite the proliferation of “corporate coffee” around town, London sports a vibrant (and growing) independent coffee & tea scene. Here are five of our favourite places to fuel up and hang out!
Sidetrack: A Wortley Café
Located in the heart of Wortley Village, Sidetrack: A Wortley Café has quickly become a favourite—as much for the coziness of their café as the drinks they serve. And while they may be better known for their coffee, they’ve got a pretty strong tea game as well.

Asmara Coffee House
Looking to get away from it all for a bit? You’ll want to check out Asmara Coffee House. Specializing in “the finest Ethiopian coffee” and proudly boasting a wi-fi free shop, it’s an easy place to hunker down and give your full attention to the brew (and company) in front of you.
Reset Social Café
Need more of a pick-me-up than caffeine alone can provide? We suggest pulling up a seat in the lively decorated Reset Social Café where muralist Stepanie Boutari’s work is sure to wake you up.
Locomotive Espresso
While we’re talking murals, we’ve got to mention Locomotive Espresso’s newest location off Ridout (near Commissioners) where Andrew Lewis’ work on the building’s exterior has seeped inside to the café to-go cups and more. Locomotive has been at the coffee game for a while now and the success of their second shop speaks to the care they pour into every cup.
The Tea Haus
If it’s tea time, it’s time you hit up The Tea Haus. Located on the second floor of downtown’s Covent Garden Market, this shop offers more than 200 varieties of loose leaf tea to take home with you after enjoying a cup on the mezzanine and watching the crowds shop below.
